If you are applying for the Certificate of Indian Status Card (CIS) (paper laminate)

  • Bring a (1” X 1”) recent photo of your head and shoulders. No headgear
  • Two pieces of valid ID, one with a photo
  • Same day service

All paperwork and documents are sent to Indigenous Service Canada for registering into the Indian Registry system.

All other First Nations please call Indigenous Service Canada (ISC) at1-236-330-9961

A band member can also call ISC for a Temporary Letter of Confirmation. This has all the personal information that is on the status card. The letter is valid for one year.

Assist with applications and forms for Indian Registry services for the following events:

  • Births
  • Marriages
  • Divorces
  • Deaths
  • Transfers
  • Miscellaneous events
  • Adoptions
  • First-time registrants (Bill C31), (Bill C3)
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card (SCIS)
  • Status cards (paper laminated) Note: This is same day service for affiliated Bands only

 

If you are applying for the Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card (SCIS)

  • Two recent passport photos, one photo must be stamped on the back
  • One piece of valid picture ID
  • Mail in process approximately 17 weeks or more

All band members are encourged to apply for the Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card.

It is a more secure card and is valid for 10 years for 16 and older, and 5 years for 15 and under.

If you are a member of another First Nation other than the communities we serve, please contact Indigenous Service Canada (ISC) in Vancouver, B.C. at 1-800-665-9320.

Please renew your SCIS cards now as it takes approximately 17 or more weeks to receive your SCIS card in the mail.  June Jimmie, IRA will assist you with your SCIS application.  Please call and make an appointment at 604 824-3266 or 1 800 565 6004.

The SCIS application process takes the same amount of time even if you go directly to the Indigenous Service Canada office in Vancouver.
