Stó:lō Community Futures (SCF) is pleased to announce the

First Nations Agriculture Needs Assessment Meeting

March 17, 2011, from 12:00pm – 3:00pm in the 3rd floor boardroom of the Stó:lō Resource Centre (10-7201 Vedder Road, Chilliwack, B.C).

Economic Development Officers, community members, and youth interested in agriculture are encouraged to register to attend this meeting.

Stó:lō Development Corporation

Stó:lō Development Corporation (SDC), is a for-profit Corporation, incorporated under the provisions of the British Columbia Companies Act in 1996, owned by Stó:lō Nation, as the sole shareholder. Under directions from Stó:lō Nation and the Board, SDC provides the following programs and services:

  • SDC is the principle economic development, marketing and promotional organization for Stó:lō Nation.
  • SDC is the Business Investment Vehicle for Stó:lō Nation and participating Stó:lō Bands and businesses.
  • SDC pursues business joint ventures and investment opportunities on behalf of Stó:lō Nation, the Stó:lō communities and Stó:lō stakeholders, that meet the established Investment Criteria developed by SDC.
  • SDC has developed a comprehensive program of revenue-generating activities with the long-term goal for SDC to be fully financially self-sufficient within five years.

Community Futures Development Corporation of Stó:lō (SCF) supports First Nation Communities within the traditional Stó:lō Territory through a range of community economic development initiatives and programs. SCF provides entrepreneurial services and access to capital through business development loans and funding initiatives, to existing and new Aboriginal businesses.

Stó:lō Tourism Commission

Stó:lō Tourism Commission Promotes Aboriginal Tourism in the Stó:lō Territory throughout the Fraser Valley. Unique tourism operations include Cultural Interpretive Centres, Longhouses, Pit Houses, Boat Tours, Campgrounds, Cultural Events, Canoe Races, Pow Wows, and Agri Tourism.

Aboriginal Tourism is a growing industry in British Columbia. Many programs and opportunities are available for travelers, existing businesses, and of course, Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Providers. This site has been designed for three reasons:

  1. To showcase the existing Aboriginal Tourism Products and Services in the area
  2. To communicate to Aboriginal People in the Stó:lõ Territory the opportunities that exist in the Aboriginal Tourism Industry
  3. To offer resources to existing businesses and those wishing to start their own businesses
