About Finance & Administration

The finance and administration staff performs routine financial and administrative services for the Stó:lō Nation. These services include the following:

  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Finance, accounting and payroll services
  • Monitoring of funding contracts received
  • Purchase of services that Stó:lō Nation cannot provide or has no capability to perform
  • Routine administrative services

Personnel policies and procedures are being reviewed regularly to address the emerging needs and requirements of the Stó:lō Nation as it strengthens its existing programs and services delivery responsibilities.

 

Indian Registry

Provides registration services for the following events:

  • Births
  • Marriages
  • Divorces
  • Deaths
  • Transfers
  • Miscellaneous events
  • Adoptions
  • First-time registrants (Bill C31)
  • Bill C3 registrants (McIvor Case)
  • Status cards (paper laminated)

Please note that appointments for Indian Registry services can be made Mondays, Tuesday afternoons, and Wednesdays for members of the following communities:

The band members that applied for the Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card (SCIS) at the Mobile Application Centre in August 2009 can still complete the paperwork, etc. Please call the SCIS processing unit at 1 877 710 2908 or Leona Sam, Stó:lō Nation.

The SCIS card will not be available until November 1, 2011 at the BC Region office in Vancouver.  There has been no timeframe on the Secure Certificate of Indian Status been issued from Band/Tribal Offices. 


Records Management

Administers and oversees the Records Administration tasks of Stó:lō Nation, specifically through the development and maintenance of records management systems and procedures for efficient record keeping practices.

Responsible for maintaining the SN Records Centre(s) by:

  • Transferring semi-active files to the RC according to the SN Records Retention Schedule
  • Monitoring loans and retrievals of files/records
  • Coordinating destruction of eligible records from the Records Centre.

Records Management is also responsible for maintaining and developing SN forms.
